A refuge for healing since 1999
Our Vision
A state free of equine abuse and neglect.
Our Mission
To rescue, rehabilitate, and rehome God’s neglected or abused equine through programs of shelter, adoption, education, and assistance.
Our History
Established in 1999 by Nina Margetson, Horse Haven of Tennessee, Inc. (HHT) was created to address the critical need for advocacy and care for neglected and abused equines across Tennessee. Recognizing a significant gap in equine welfare, HHT was founded to serve as a dedicated resource for these animals.
Since its inception, HHT has built a long record of caring for horses in need and has grown into Tennessee’s largest nonprofit equine welfare organization. HHT also supports law enforcement by coordinating the transportation and care of horses involved in criminal abuse and neglect cases.
While these cases are adjudicated, HHT ensures that the horses receive comprehensive care. The commitment of staff and volunteers is fundamental to the organization's operations, enabling the daily care and rehabilitation of these animals.
